The council’s budget situation is once again extremely challenging with an estimated £15 million budget gap forecast.
What does this mean?
It means that there will not be enough funding to provide council services as they are currently run. The Council will have very difficult decisions to make when it sets its budget in February next year.
What can be done about this?
Most funding for council services comes from the Scottish Government (SG).
The Council does a lot to stretch funding as far as possible and to make savings. We've made £50 million of savings over the past ten years alone.
We also work with (the Convention for Scottish Local Authorities) to raise the case for funding with the SG. CoSLA negotiates with the SG about the funding settlement for councils.
Normally we find out how much º£½ÇÉçÇø and Bute is getting for its services towards the end of the year. This year it will be later, not until early 2026.
Join us in standing up for funding for º£½ÇÉçÇø and Bute - show support for funding for your council services by saying yes to fair funding.
We will report your support and comments to CoSLA as part of our campaigning. Thank you.
